William “Bill” Stacey Coleman passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2025 from complications of infection and stroke with his wife of 47 years by his side. Bill was born in Eustis, Florida to William and Grace Coleman in 1951. He graduated from Eustis High School in 1969 and Florida State University. He had a 39-year career with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission working as a Fisheries Biologist, a job that he loved, and which culminated in his recognition as the Southeastern Director’s Fisheries Biologist of the Year in 2013. An avid hunter and fisherman, Bill enjoyed regular trips to hunt camp in Alabama and fishing trips to the Bahamas and Louisiana. He also enjoyed time at their beautiful Lake Seneca home, working on orange groves, peach trees, and longleaf pine. An eternal jokester, Bill brought a smile to anyone he came across. He is preceded in death by his supervising older sister, Sandy. He is survived by his loving wife and better half, Barbara Coleman, and his Gator-loving daughter, Jessica. Bill will always be remembered for his humor, hard work, and huge heart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Coastal Conservation Association Florida: ccaflorida.org/product/memorial-donations or Special Olympics Florida: Donate | Special Olympics. Services will be held at a later date.
