Timothy Glenn Getchell, 62, of Umatilla, Florida, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was born in Ocala, Florida to the late Ralph W. & Priscilla (Chase) Getchell. Timothy graduated from Umatilla High School in 1980 and went on to attend Troy State University. In 1984, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. Timothy served during the Gulf War and retired from the Marines in 2000 with the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. He returned to Florida in the early 2000s to be near family after the passing of his beloved Nancy. Timothy currently worked for the United States Postal Service in Grand Island where he was a crowd favorite among his route. He was a significant contributor to the youth as an Awana leader. Timothy proudly continued a life of service as a recovery counselor with Alcoholics Anonymous where he recently celebrated an incredible 30 years of sobriety. Timothy is survived by his son Marcus Albion (Melissa) Smith of Staten Island, NY; daughter, Megan Amber Smith of Pensacola, FL; 7 brothers, Ralph (Mary) Getchell of Boise, ID; John (Chris) Getchell of Eustis, FL; David (Allison) Getchell of San Carlos, CA; Stephen (Terry) Getchell of Thonotosassa, FL; Paul (Beth) Getchell of Braselton, GA; Adam (Barbie) Getchell of Boise, ID; and Andrew Getchell of Richmond, VA; 2 grandchildren, Blaze Michael Rhoten and Baby Boy Getchell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Eustis, in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 4:00 PM. Timothy will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
