Thomas Mark Golden passed away on Saturday, February 17th at the age of 84. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Thomas graduated from Scranton Preparatory School and joined the U.S. Army shortly after graduating. He remained in the service for 20 years, which included three tours of duty in Vietnam. After retiring from the army, he graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in education. He taught school for the next 35 years in Florida, as well as Indonesia, Myanmar, and Zimbabwe. Thomas and his wife traveled frequently and were privileged to enjoy adventures on every continent – hiking through rainforests and jungles, climbing mountains, camping on glaciers in Antarctica, and walking with lions. He was an avid hiker and runner.  Thomas is survived by the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 37 years, Kathryn, daughters, Kathryn (Shawn), Catherine, and Ellen (David) and sons, Shawn and Timothy, 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas A. Golden, and his mother, Catherine Costello Golden. Military graveside services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Memorial donations in memory of Thomas can be made to Palmetto Animal Health Center, 18460 US hwy 441, Mount Dora, FL 32757.
