Phyllis MeClewski Dedrick, 77, of Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, October 20, 2025. She was born on April 10, 1948 in St. Augustine, Florida to Peter and Willa Mae Meclewski. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Florida and with a Master’s from the University of Northern Iowa. She raised her family in Cedar Falls, Iowa and had a long career teaching Special Education at East High School in Waterloo, Iowa. After retiring, she and Charles lived in Jacksonville, Florida until his passing in 2015. She later moved to Sarasota and in 2023 moved to Lake County, Florida.


Phyllis enjoyed attending Presbyterian churches in all of the places she lived over the years. She loved searching the aisles of flea markets and thrift stores for treasures, and taking a break with her beloved dog Willie at the dog park. Phyllis especially enjoyed helping out her fellow residents at Lake Ridge Village by driving them to appointments, running errands for them, and helping out where and when she could. Phyllis never knew a stranger and was known for her kind spirit and her habit of giving sincere compliments to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved her.


Phyllis is predeceased by her Husband, Charles Van Loan Dedrick; her Son, Brian Dedrick; and by her Sister, Carol Matheny. She is survived by her Daughter, Debbie (Kent) Hattery of Reading, MA: her Son, Scott (Lisa) Dedrick of Saint Johns, FL; Grandchildren William, Andrew, Grace and Catherine Hattery; Emma, Abby, and Connor Dedrick and by numerous nieces and nephews and family and friends.

A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held at the Lake Ridge Village, Eustis on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Hoffmeyer Animal Rescue
