Larry Wayne Burfield, 76, of Sorrento, FL, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Larry was born in Sanford, FL in 1946. When he was still a youngster, the family moved to northern Illinois. Larry graduated from Harlem High School in Rockford, Illinois in 1964. He lived and worked in Rockford until his return to Sorrento, FL in June of 1988. He attended Lake Sumter State College for a short time. He worked as a teacher assistant at Lake Hills School and later at The Boys Ranch. Larry was a born-again Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Umatilla. He served as a greeter, where he enjoyed meeting with other people. Larry was an avid car guy. He enjoyed going to car shows and cruise-ins. He collected diecast, muscle cars, especially those of NASCAR drivers. Larry also was a football enthusiast. He had been a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, and since returning to Florida, the Gators and UCF. Larry was very creative in that he wrote poetry and drew ideas about car innovations. He enjoyed 60’s music and Roy Orbison. Larry is predeceased by his first wife, (Patricia) Marie Burfield, and sister, Mary Estes. He is survived by his wife, Romaine Darlene Burfield, Sorrento, FL; son, Brent, Burfield, Summerfield, FL; daughter, Tina Leden, Machesney Park, Illinois; sister, Becky (Don) Brumfield, Sorrento, FL; granddaughter, Trista Leden, Machesney Park, Illinois; and by an extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
