Jayne Darlene Olson, 84, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025, at the family home in Florida, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 20, 1940, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to Arlene Chastain and Harold Cuthbert, Jayne lived a life brimming with joy, compassion, and an unwavering Christian faith, her love for God and Jesus Christ guiding her every step.
Raised in Erie, Jayne graduated from Academy High School in 1958, where she met her high school sweetheart and first husband, Ronald Robert Robson. Together, they moved to Fort Lauderdale and adopted their two beloved children, Troy Kevin Robson and Tracy Kay Robson (Belter). A dedicated community member, Jayne served as a crossing guard and librarian, nurturing the safety and curiosity of countless children while sharing her love for reading by reading stories to her children and grandchildren. Her professional career also included managing two large gastrointestinal offices with skill and care, leveraging her expertise in shorthand and typing. At the remarkable age of 65, Jayne’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to open Just Dog Gourmet, a business she ran with passion for 12 years, reflecting her deep love for animals. A whiz at investing, she demonstrated keen financial acumen that enriched her endeavors.
Jayne was an avid bowler, achieving an impressive average near 200 and serving as the bowling secretary, where her competitive spirit and organizational talents shone. Her heart truly lit up on the dance floor, swaying to the music of her beloved Elvis Presley, with favorites like “All Shook Up,” “Return to Sender,” “Hound Dog,” and “Jailhouse Rock” capturing her lively spirit. She was a graceful swimmer who cherished time with her family and grandchildren, and her love for nature shone through in her walks and care for her beloved orchids, roses, and Christmas cactus. A lover of Christmas and Thanksgiving, Jayne filled these holidays with warmth, creating cherished traditions for her family through her passion for cooking and baking, especially her signature pumpkin bread, which became a beloved holiday staple.
An unwavering Christian, Jayne found strength and community in her faith, actively participating in Whitney Christian Ministries Worship Center in Leesburg, Florida, and First Baptist Church Umatilla in Umatilla, Florida. In her final years, Jayne was lovingly cared for at home by her daughter, Tracy Kay Robson (Belter), her son-in-law, James Brian Belter, other family members, caregiver Sandra Arterberry, and the warm, loving staff at Home Instead, whose dedication ensured her comfort and dignity. Jayne’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for God, animals, children, and family. She is survived by her son, Troy Kevin Robson; her daughter, Tracy Kay Robson (Belter); her son-in-law, James Brian Belter; her sister, Denise Martin; and her beloved grandchildren, Allyson Jayne Adkins Bethay and Malorie Anne Adkins. She was predeceased by her second husband, James A. Olson; her first husband, Ronald Robert Robson; her sister, Carole Damewood; her brothers, Rodney and Jack Cuthbert; and her parents, Arlene Chastain and Harold Cuthbert. Her presence will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew her.
A celebration of Jayne’s life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Umatilla, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to an animal rescue of your choice in Jayne’s name, honoring her lifelong devotion to animals.
