Janice Elizabeth Taylor, 82, of Eustis, passed away Friday, May 30, 2025. Born in Meridian, Mississippi, to the late Elmer Franklin and Gladys Ivy Connor Walker. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe F. Walker, and her first husband of 53 years, James "Duke" Taylor. She is survived by her husband, Edwin Kennedy; daughter Nancy (James) Turpak; brother Glen Walker (Janelle); sister Cathy (Gary) Cantley; and three grandchildren, Lindsey Elizabeth Williams Dunn (Frank), Kyle Addison Williams, and Trent Taylor Williams. She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. Janice and her family moved to Tavares in 1955 from Sylvania, Georgia. She graduated from Tavares High School in 1961, began her banking career at Bank of Tavares and married her high school sweetheart. Later she worked at United Southern Bank. She devoted 50 years to banking and worked her way up to Branch Manager and Vice President at United Southern Bank. Throughout her banking career she took pride in mentoring young employees and was pleased when they were promoted or began new careers. Her clients were almost like family to her and she was honored to serve them. Janice loved to meet her friends and colleagues at the annual stockholders meeting. Janice enjoyed meeting and helping people in her community. She served as the Sunshine District Governor of Civitan and worked tirelessly for the Tavares High School Band Boosters. Janice was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Tavares, where she held several positions, including secretary-treasurer. Her favorite volunteer work at the church was taking care of and teaching children in the nursery. She most recently attended First Baptist Church, Umatilla. Janice enjoyed camping in their motor home and spending time at her brother's condo in New Smyrna Beach. Janice loved getting together with family, especially for holidays and birthdays. She was a devoted and loving wife, a caring and giving mother, grandmother, sister and a loyal friend. Her love, warmth and kindness will long be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memory Gardens, Eustis. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home prior to the service from 12:00 Noon till 1:00 PM.
