Herbert Orace Hooks, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Tavares, Florida, at the age of 78. Born on November 6, 1947, in Milledgeville, Georgia, Herbert lived a life filled with devotion, family, and community.
For 44 years, Herbert shared his life with his beloved wife, Karen Hooks. They cultivated a partnership built on love, mutual respect, and shared dreams. Herbert's legacy lives on in their son, Ronald Claven, who resides in Mount Dora, Florida. Herbert's family extended beyond his immediate circle, as he is also survived by his beloved sisters: Barbara Jean Young of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Rosa Lee Johnson of Detroit, Michigan; Joyce Inell Humphries of St. Louis, Illinois; Eunice Clydie Pate of Detroit, Michigan; and Frankie Louise Dickson of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who were fortunate to know his warm spirit and kind heart.
Herbert dedicated his career to clothing sales, where he was known for his genuine smile and ability to connect with customers. His vivacity and charm helped build lasting relationships within the community he served. As a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Dora, Herbert's faith was a guiding force in his life and a cornerstone of his being. He embraced the teachings of his church, fostering connections that brought joy and support to those around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clydie Hooks, as well as his brothers, Marion Hooks, Ralph Hooks, and Robert Hooks. Their memories continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Herbert Orace Hooks will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his impactful presence in the community. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit will forever remain etched in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
