Franklin Larue Knickerbocker, 78, of Howey in The Hills, Florida, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Born in Duluth, Minnesota but spent most of his childhood in Cleveland, Ohio, he moved to Howey in The Hills from Umatilla, Florida. Frank was a Police Officer in Clearwater prior to his retirement. He served as a Combat Medic in the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army during Vietnam. He was a graduate of the University of South Florida obtaining 2 bachelor’s degrees. Frank loved to sail. He and his wife enjoyed sailing throughout the Bahamas and around Florida. He also enjoyed flying and was a licensed pilot. Traveling brought him a great deal of joy and he traveled extensively throughout his life. He always said you have to "see it while you can". Frank is predeceased by his sisters, Mary Lou Pugel and Gloria Belle. He is survived by his Wife, Gladys B. Moon of Howey in The Hills, FL; 2 nieces and 3 nephews and numerous extended family and friends. Private interment will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
