Donald David White

October 13, 1941 — May 10, 2025

Bay Minette, Alabama

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald David White, Sr., 83 of Spanish Fort, Alabama, announces that he passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Miller White, his parents Donald Proctor and Lizzie Beeland White, his brother Robert F. White, his brother Thomas J. White and sisters-in- law Patsy Johnson White and Teresa Miller Cheatham. He is survived by his wife of 11 years Mary Dorough White, children Robin (James) Young, Donna (Richard) Cayton, and David (Katy) White, grandchildren Summer (Ethan) Tomasello, Alycia (Jo) Young, Garrett (Bre) White, Joseph (Tori) White, and great-grandson Rowan Dyal, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Montverde, Florida in 1941, he lived his young adult life in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. He graduated from Tavares High School where he met and married his High School Sweetheart Dotsy Miller. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in Okinawa, Japan, and Hawaii until 1963. He began his law enforcement career in Winter Park, Florida with the Florida Beverage Control until he was recruited to join the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) in 1967. He retired from ATF in 1996 and accepted a post with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Throughout his long illustrious federal career he also served in the Florida and Alabama National Guard and in 2002 retired at the rank of Master Sargeant.

Don, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, a great sense of humor, and unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory lives on in our hearts.

A viewing will be held at Harden-Pauli Funeral Home 1617 S. Bay Street, Eustis, Florida on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. He will be interred at Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
