David Allen Lang, 55, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed into glory on Saturday, May 10, 2025, with his beloved wife, Lisa, at his side. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, and a good and faithful servant of The Lord.
Born in Winter Park, Florida, to George and Linda Lang, David was “born again to a living hope” when he put his faith in Jesus Christ at age 15. After graduating Lyman High School in 1987, David was called to study religion at Florida State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1990. Despite numerous honors and awards, including induction into The Phi Beta Kappa Society, David regarded his deepened love and understanding of God’s Word to be the central achievement of his academic career.
David met his dream girl and soul mate at Northland Church in Longwood, Florida in 1991, and loved her faithfully every day for the rest of his life. He and Lisa celebrated thirty-one years of wedded bliss this April. David and Lisa’s shared passion for biblical exegesis and liberal education led them to homeschool their five children, who would often gather around their living room to study Scripture and recite memory verses together as a family.
David’s faith was fundamental to his work as an Accordance Bible software developer, by which he helped provide countless resources and study tools for pastors and students alike. His heartfelt commitment to the church also led him to serve in several volunteer roles throughout his life, including those of Sunday school teacher and worship leader. He taught high school English with Providence Home Educators, sharing the writings of C.S. Lewis and John Donne and all his endless insight, with the young people to whom he dutifully ministered.
A true Renaissance man, David was a gifted writer, fine artist, tenor, scholar, and archivist. His athletic talents were likewise great — he competed in varsity weightlifting as a teenager and earned his black belt in taekwondo from the Family Martial Arts Center in Mount Dora, Florida in 2020, alongside his youngest son. He was an avid fan of FSU football, and Batman was his favorite superhero.
David is predeceased by his father, George Lang. He is survived by his wife, Lisa; mother, Linda; and five children: David (Caitlyn) Lang, Caleb (Elizabeth) Lang, Bethany Lang, Alexa (Charles) Vega, and Josiah Lang. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa (Jon) Marte; and three grandchildren. They will cherish his memory always, as David continues to abide in Christ.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Florida on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM. In honor of David's life and spiritual legacy, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew’s Chapel, 5525 Wayside Dr., Sanford, FL 32771.
