David Fraser Keene

Tavares, Florida

David Fraser Keene, 55, of Tavares, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lisa (Sullivan) Keene and married for 24 years. Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, he moved to Florida in 2015 from Rehoboth, Massachusetts. David is predeceased by his father Frederick W. Keene and is survived by his mother, Shirley Keene of Warwick, Rhode Island. He is also survived by his daughter, Allison Keene of St. Petersburg, Florida; his son, James Keene of Tavares, Florida; his sister, Susan Capasso of Narragansett, Rhode Island; five nieces; and by many extended family and friends. David spent the majority of his life on the sea. Upon his graduation from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1991, he joined the Merchant Marines and spent the next 17 years sailing as Second Mate aboard oil tankers. Most recently, David was a Marine Technical Advisor responsible for risk assurance of marine terminals in New England for 4 years, then in the Caribbean and Latin America for the past 11 years. David enjoyed Fishing, Boating, Traveling, Collecting, and Disney. Most of all, David enjoyed spending time with his family. David was a member of the Boy Scouts of America of which he was an Eagle Scout and Adult Leader for Troop 512 in Pompano Beach, Florida. He spent many summers as a Scout, Counselor, and Leader at Camp Yawgoog in Rhode Island. Celebration of David's life will be held in Rhode Island.
