Brian Sidney Eakin, age 88, of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully at 08:25 Zulu, on Sunday, December 28, 2025. Brian was born in Atlanta, Georgia. As a military officer he spent much of his life moving between various duty locations before retiring, settling in Mount Dora in 2020 after relocating from Oregon.
Brian proudly served his country as a fighter pilot in the United States NAVY from Sep 1959 attaining the rank of Lieutenant. During the Vietnam War his squadron provided close air support to our ground troops. Flying such tree-top level missions were high risk, resulting in his being shot down over Laos and flying through clouds of Agent Orange defoliant. His service was a source of great pride and honor throughout his life. When the Vietnam Conflict ended the NAVY reduced manpower. Brian reenlisted in the U.S. Army ultimately retiring as a First Sargent, in Oct 1981.
He was also a devoted member of LifePointe Church, Eustis, where his shared testimony and steadfast faith found fellowship.
Brian is survived by his wife, Donna Eakin of Tavares, Florida; his son and his daughter in law, Nathan and Julie Eakin of Sandy, Oregon; and his grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made in Brian’s honor to LifePointe Church in Eustis, Florida. An online guestbook is available at www.hardenpauli.com.
Arrangements are entrusted to Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis, Florida.
