Beatrice C. Boyce

August 30, 1936 — July 23, 2025

Tavares, Florida

Beatrice C. Boyce, 88, of Tavares, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Born in New York City, Beatrice moved to Tavares in 2000 from Watertown, New York. She was a registered nurse for over four decades, dedicating her career to mental healthcare. Her compassion and expertise touched the lives of countless patients. Even after retirement, she continued to serve others as a volunteer in the Cancer Treatment Center at AdventHealth Waterman Hospital for fifteen years. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mount Dora, Florida. Beatrice was also active in many organizations, including the Mercy Hospital Alumni Association, Beta Sigma Phi, Tri-County Newcomers Group, the Certified Emergency Response Team of Fox Run, the Fox Run Cards Group, and the Red Hat Society, where she proudly served as “Queen” Bea. She was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks Lodge, Eagles, and Moose Lodge. She loved playing Bingo and Rummikub. Beatrice is predeceased by her parents, Joseph G. Walsh and Bernice M. (Scollin) Walsh; her husband, Jack K. Boyce; and her sister, Bernice M. Walsh. She is survived by her children, whom she shared with her former husband, Dennis P. Donoghue, Sr.: Dennis P. (Denise) Donoghue, Jr. of Tampa, FL; Joseph R. (Debbie) Donoghue, Sr. of Adams Center, NY; Kevin J. Donoghue of Plain City, OH; Kelly C. (Karen) Donoghue of Plattsburgh, NY; Kathleen D. (Joseph) Salvadore of Watertown, NY; Patricia M. (Frank) Stangel of Leesburg, FL; Colleen M. (Keith) Wheeler of Copenhagen, NY; and Daniel M. Donoghue of San Francisco, CA. She also shared a close and loving bond with her nephews, Tom and James J. Walsh, who were like sons to her in spirit. She is also survived by stepchildren Steven, Stan, Scott, Barbara, and Brenda Boyce, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends—especially her Fox Run family, with whom she built lasting friendships over the 25 years she lived there. Our Queen lived her life truly for others, shown in so many unspoken ways. Even now, we continue to hear from people who knew our mother, each sharing stories of the good she brought into their lives. She was a fierce patriot, carrying a deep love for her country with pride and purpose, she lived a life of service beyond herself. In honor of our mother, please “Bea” kind, never let a stranger remain a stranger, and leave the world a better place with love in your heart. The family would like to thank New Vision for Independence (Leesburg, FL), AdventHealth Medical Group, AdventHealth Waterman Hospital (especially her favorite nurse, James), and Cornerstone Hospice (especially Penny, Chelsea, and Diana) for the professional, loving care shown to our “Queen.” Your kindness did not go unnoticed. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on October 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Watertown, NY, with a Celebration of Life to follow. A separate Celebration of Life will also be held at Fox Run in Tavares, Florida.
