Arlene Pomeroy Riley, 88, of Eustis, Florida, peacefully passed away on November 13, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Arlene spent her formative years growing up in Tampa and Miami, Florida. While in Tampa, she was honored in 1950 as the Queen of the May in the Hillsborough Children’s May Day Festival.
Arlene resided for many years in Arlington, Virginia, where she made her mark in the fashion industry until her retirement, specializing in high-end jewelry, chinaware, and crystal. She moved to Eustis in 2011.
A woman of many talents, Arlene loved the arts, especially the symphony and the opera. She was an accomplished singer and writer, and enjoyed creating beautiful dried floral arrangements. Throughout her life, she was deeply involved in many volunteer groups and loved serving her community.
An avid traveler, Arlene and her husband explored the US and destinations overseas, including Turkey, Greece, and Israel, as well as many European cities. One of her favorite journeys was a river cruise up the Danube to experience the European Christmas Markets.
Arlene was a devoted member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an organization through which she cherished her heritage and community involvement.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Edward J. Riley; her son, Edward Curtis (Fanta) of Dallas, Texas; and her three daughters, Mary Catherine (Brian) Deering of Winter Park, Florida, Carrie C. Curtis (Alfie) of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Heather P. (John) Georgoudiou of Longwood, Florida. Arlene is also survived by her two sisters, Maxine Munk-Madsen of Hudson, Florida, and Hollie (James) Gunderson of Daleville, Alabama. She is also survived by her brother Craig (Lisa) Vanderlaan of Pembroke Pines, Florida; as well as three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arlene's legacy of love and dedication to her family and friends will forever be cherished. Arrangements are being made by Harden/Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis, Florida.
