Walter C. Vernon

Walter C. Vernon, 92, of Mount Dora, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. Born in Cheraw, South Carolina, he moved to Mount Dora in 2005 from Orlando, Florida. He was a Diesel Equipment Mechanic and was Methodist. Walter served in the US Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marianne B. Vernon, Mount Dora, FL; 4 sons, Walter Vernon, Cologne, NJ, Scott Vernon, Hagerstown, MD, Timothy Vernon, Orlando, FL, William Vernon, Mount Dora, FL; daughter, Laura Lee Vernon, Mount Dora, FL; granddaughter, Shannon Payne, Sorrento, FL; great-granddaughter, Delaney Payne, Sorrento, FL; and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Military graveside services will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Walter's name to your favorite charity.
