Stanley E. Bainter

January 23, 1931 — December 9, 2018

Stanley E. (“Stan”) Bainter of Eustis, Florida passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018. Stan was born January 23, 1931 to Rella and Georgia Bainter in Macomb, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughter Dara, son Patrick and five grandchildren. Stan’s eldest son, Jon, predeceased him in 2005.
Stan was many things to many people and spent a great deal of time in community and public service. He was named Elk of the Year in 1981 and Lake County Citizen of the Year in 1982. Stan served as President of the Kiwanis, the Lake County Fair, the Lake County Cattlemen Association, Sumter Electric Cooperative, and the Florida Tractor Pullers Association. Stan also served as Director of the Lake County Agriculture Advisory Council, the Lake Agriculture and Youth Fair, Seminole Electric Cooperative and Sumter Electric Cooperative.
Stan loved all things mechanical and agricultural and was notably accomplished at restoring many antique trucks and tractors and raising Brahman breeding stock cattle. In 1976, Stan was named Outstanding Conservation Farmer of Florida and in 1984 Stan and Marilyn were awarded first place for the Florida Premier Brahman Bull.
Elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1986, Stan served 14 years focusing on difficult issues including Juvenile Justice, Insurance regulation and financial issues. In 1994 Stan was named President of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators for his expertise, accomplishments and commitment to good public policy.
But what Stan would tell you he was most proud of, was his service to our Country as a veteran of the Korean Conflict, and his continued service to other veterans as a Post Commander of the American Legion and a member of the 40 and 8.
The family will be engaging in a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the The Arc Sunrise of Central Florida (SunRiseArc.org) or the Humane Society of Lake County (HumaneLake.com) would greatly be appreciated.
