Julia S. Thompson

August 13, 1959 — October 30, 2019

Julia Stevens Thompson was born August 13, 1959, at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. Her family lived in Miami, Fl. In 1974 the family moved to Fort Lauderdale and later to North Lauderdale. She attended Coconut Creek High, graduating in 1977. Julie played volleyball and basketball and sang in chorus. She received a basketball scholarship and attended Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Ky until she broke her ankle. She was studying special needs education.
Julie was a member of Coral Springs Baptist Church where she met her future husband, Brad Thompson, in the College and Career Sunday school class. She was the main organizer of activities for the group. Julie married Brad June 18th, 1983, at Coral Springs Baptist Church. She had her son, Joey, in 1987. Julie worked as a waitress and a cook for many years until she signed on as a school bus driver for Broward School District.
After moving to Stuart she drove for Martin County and later for the Benjamin School and Jupiter Christian. Julie was a sports fan and loved going to games. Her team was the Miami Dolphins. She always called penalties before the flag was thrown. She usually hosted the Super Bowl party. Julie was born with a deck of cards in her hands and she loved playing any game, especially poker. She used to play online a lot when it was legal, winning some major prizes. She also played on the cruise ships, winning a seat in a major tournament on the Carnival Sunshine. Julie enjoyed cruising.
Julie never met a stranger, making friends with people easily. She was always going to some gathering or organizing events like Bean Bag Baseball at the clubhouse. Julie loved going to Disney World; many years she would own annual passes. She liked EPCOT the most, but Magic Kingdom was a close second.
Julie moved to Grand Island Resort in 2012 to be close to family. She loved tooling around on her golf cart and talking to people she saw. She enjoyed running Bean Bag Baseball, making lots of friends in the process. Julie is survived by her husband, Brad, and her son Joseph. She will be sorely missed.
