Horace C. Jones Sr.

Horace C. Jones, Sr., 81, of Eustis, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Horace moved to Eustis in 2005 from Brooklyn, New York, where he lived for nearly 40 years working in commercial sales after serving his country as a member of the US Army from 1958-1964. In Eustis, Horace was a very active and devoted member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, as well as a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also active with St. Vincent de Paul charitable organization, and the St. Mary of the Lakes donation center. While still in Brooklyn, Horace was also a dedicated member of St. Ignatius Church and the Harim Abiff Lodge # 61 AF & AM of Brooklyn.

Horace was blessed with three children – Horace C. Jones Jr., David Grant Sr., and Janene Pearson – and five grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cynthia Jones, Eustis, FL; son and daughter-in-law, David Sr. & Julia, Mount Pleasant, SC; daughter, Janene, Brooklyn, NY; five grandchildren, Ian Pearson, David Grant, Jr., Kristina Grant, Amy Grant, Daniel Grant; six sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, his nieces Dennise & Lolita, nephews Tyrone & Charles, and an abundance of other close and supportive nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his first son, Horace Jr., both of his parents, all of his siblings, mother-in-law, father-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and three brothers-in-law.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Eustis, on Friday, August 14, 2020, at 10:00 AM. Military interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis on Thursday evening, from 6:00 till 8:00 PM.
