Jean M. Samsel

Jean M. Samsel, 81, of Mount Dora, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. Born in Flushing, New York, she retired from the New York City Board of Education as the District 5 testing liaison officer. She spent her 1st 22 years as a classroom teacher. Jean was elected outstanding teacher of the year in 1973, she got the fellowship of Bank Street College of Education. She was the President of CONAS in Sanibel Island, Florida. She moved to Mount Dora in 1999 from Sanibel Island. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, August Harold Samsel, Mount Dora, FL; son, August Henry Samsel, Benton, AR; 2 daughters, Debra Ann Bice, Pinellas Park, FL, Betina Samsel, Hawthorne, NY; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
