Charles Louis Mingonet

April 14, 1927 — August 7, 2016

Charles Louis Mingonet, 89, of Eustis, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016. Born in Eustis, Florida. After graduating from Eustis High School with the class of 1945, Charles served his country in the US Navy in final months of WWII. Following the war, Charles attended Stetson University in Deland before taking over management of Pearl Florist originally founded by his mother Pearl in 1925. In 1954 he met and married his wife, Madelyn Robichaux from Katy Texas. Together they owned & operated Pearl's Florist for nearly 50 years, a business of positive influence for its employees as, customers of Pearl Florist, and citizens of Eustis and Lake County. Charles was a devoted Christian, faithful husband and loving father. He was the longest living member of First United Methodist Church, Eustis when he passed. He also served as a member of Gideon’s International. Charles was always active in the community as a member of the Eustis Kiwanis Club since January 1952 serving as the local chapter president on more than one occasion where an ongoing student scholarship awarded in his name is still provided annually to a deserving Eustis High School graduate. He also served as the Eustis Orange King and was recognized as a blood donor for the many gallons he donated through the years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage, Madelyn R. Mingonet; 2 daughters, Joy L. Sanford and her husband David, Leesburg, FL, Linda M. Johnson and her husband Bob, Eustis, FL; 2 sons, CAPT Charles L. Mingonet, Jr., USN, (ret) and wife Sandy of Colorado Springs, CO; Milton Scott Mingonet and wife Christine, Oviedo, FL; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and counting. He always considered his finest legacy and blessing to be his children and grandchildren who followed their father and mother as disciples of Christ. He was preceded in death by his brother, Aime Milton Mingonet who gave his life in service during WWII and sister, Lorraine Mingonet Treen. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, Eustis on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home Chapel, Eustis on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
