Albert Lee Kelley Jr.

February 9, 1935 — December 17, 2017

Albert (Al) Kelley, Jr., 82, born to Albert Lee Kelley, Sr. and Gladys Bowman Kelley, died peacefully last Sunday at his home in Eustis, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Kelley; sister Carol Kelley of Tavares, Florida; son David Kelley of Apopka; daughter Melissa Kelley (Steve Meffert); and granddaughters Clarice and Liana Meffert. Kelley was a lifelong and dedicated member of College Park United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school class, sang in the choir, and served on the executive council. Kelley also attended the University of Florida and enjoyed a successful career as a professional golfer. He turned pro in 1962 and played in the PGA Golf Tour in the 1960s and on the Senior PGA tour between 1987 and 1992. On the Senior Tour, he garnered 15 top 10 finishes, including a second place finish at the 1990 Ameritech Senior Open and his sole win at the 1990 Newport Cup. Up until his final days, Kelley enjoyed life as a teaching pro at The Country Club of Mount Dora near Leesburg, Florida. Services will be held at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, 1617 S. Bay Street, Eustis, FL, on December 27, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made to the Golden Triangle YMCA, 1465 David Walker Dr, Tavares, FL 32778 or the College Park United Methodist Church, 644 W. Princeton St., Orlando FL 32804.
